Everybody loves being on a relay. The best part about it…swimming a race with three of your best friends! While swimming a relay could be pretty serious or even just for fun, there are always certain types of relay swimmers that show up at the blocks ready to swim. Are you familiar with these types of relay swimmers?
1. The Focused One – In every relay, there’s typically one super focused swimmer. They’re leading off, so they might keep the time they go. Don’t you dare distract them from their race with all your “LETS GOOO” nonsense. They might not enjoy that as much as the rest of the relay does.
2. The DQ – This might not be the reputation you want, but there’s always that relay swimmer that always get “deeqed” (not in their individual events) in their relays. False start? Don’t worry, they got you. Past the 15 meter mark? Don’t worry, they got you. One-handed breast stroke touch? Don’t worry, they’ve got you covered.
3. “Hold up, what?” – This doesn’t need much explaining. There’s always that one swimmer who has no idea what leg they’re swimming. Like, dude, you’re a breast stroker…why would you swim anything else? Get it together. Sometimes, they don’t even realize they’re even in a relay (yet coach told them they were two hours ago).
